Coppin K-12 Academy

Architecture Inspired by Shibori Dye Patterns

Analysis of Coppin State University’s campus revealed a need for a new Coppin Academy high school building. The current location abuts the Greek life courtyard and the building is one of the oldest on campus. Inspiration for the building came from indigo shibori dye patterns. The organic dye patterns introduced different elements in the design and led to the building’s unusual shape.
